puppy&dog PROOFING

Protect your puppy at home
Your puppy needs to be supervised at all times or placed in a safe environment.
Here are some tips to help you protect your puppy from harm - and protect your possessions from your puppy:
Pick up everything from the floor and empty any low shelves.
Remove food on tables from your puppyís reach.
Secure your garbage and containers.
Choose appropriate toys that do not look like your own personal belongings.
Train your puppy with a "drop" command.
Close closets and doors or block off rooms with gates to protect expensive items (computers, entertainment equipment, etc).
Consider crate-training, indoor tethers and exercise pens.
Protect your puppy from toxins such as pesticides, cleansers and medications.
Tuck electrical cords behind furniture or wrap them in PVC tubing.
Remove valuable items from your puppyís reach until he is no longer teething and is trained.
Don't open the front door without having control of your puppy.
There are spray repellents to help protect your furniture from chewing (but they are no substitute for proper supervision).
Research online or look for books with more information on puppy-proofing your home.
